Asian Cabbage Salad (serves a family)

All parts of this salad can be made ahead and tossed together just prior to serving.


  • 1 head of Napa Cabbage

  • 4 green onions/scallions

  • 4 Tbsp. butter or substitute

  • 4 Tbsp. sesame seeds

  • 1 small package of sliced almonds

  • 2 packages of Ramen noodles (discard seasoning packets)

  • 1/4 cup Rice Wine Vinegar

  • 1/2 cup sugar or sugar substitute (note proportions)

  • 3/4 cup oil

  • 3 Tbsp. soy sauce


  • Thinly slice Napa cabbage and scallions. Toss and chill in a large Ziploc bag.

  • Add butter to a skillet and brown sesame seeds, crushed Ramen noodles and almonds - cool and store in a tightly sealed container.

  • Combine rice wine vinegar, sugar, oil and soy sauce and bring to boil to dissolve sugar - cool

  • At dinner time toss all in a large bowl
